Learn more about the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program
The Department of Social Services (DSS) recently announced additional funding to help low-income Missourians stay cool this summer. The funds are being distributed through the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). This influx of financial aid is intended to help program participants pay their summer cooling bills from June 1 through September 30, 2020.
Use this checklist to see if you qualify for assistance with your cooling bills:
- Are responsible for paying home cooling costs?
- Do you have under $3,000 in bank accounts, retirement accounts, or investments?
- Do you have a household income of 135% or less of the federal poverty level (a monthly income of $2,400 for a family of three or $2,897 for a family of four)?
- Are you a US citizen or legally admitted for permanent residence?
If you answered yes to all the above, you are likely eligible for this program!
To apply for the LIHEAP program, click here to complete the application form and then mail or fax the form to the office serving your community (listed on last page of the application).
